You can buy cute clothes online from brands like Dior, Louis Vuitton, and even designer designer Hedi Slimane, but the key is to go with brands who will take your money and will treat you like an ambassador.
“There’s something really appealing about a brand that takes a risk and creates a brand of the future, where the product is beautiful and is very personal to you,” said Katie Lee, a retail assistant at Hedi.
“A lot of brands do this and then try and copy it, but they don’t really know how to build brands.”
For example, Hedi has built a loyal following through its collaboration with Dior.
But, Lee said, they are “very selective in the brands they work with.”
You should also be wary of “designer clothes” that have a limited lifespan or have no social media presence.
“We’re very picky when it comes to brands,” Lee said.
“If you go in and see a brand, you can’t really go back and tell them you bought it.”
A big selling point for designers is that they’re a trusted brand.
“I’ve seen a lot of designers who are very upfront with their brand, and then some brands are more closed-off,” Lee continued.
“They’re not really going to take chances with the brand.
If you’re in the business of making beautiful clothes, you’re a very risky company to be in.”
“You don’t want to be an indie brand,” Lee explained.
“You want to have a big name.”
Lee advises designers to think about the brand first and foremost.
“The more you spend on a brand the more you’ll be in the company of an authority, so the more trust you can build with them, the more comfortable you’ll feel,” she said.
If the brand you’re buying is a niche brand like Calvin Klein, Lee says you want to look for one that has the following attributes: “The clothes are very minimal, very practical.
They’re not too expensive, and they’re not overpriced.
If it’s a designer-inspired label, then you want that to be your main focus.”
If you can afford it, you should also check out brands that are very close to home, such as the likes of Christian Louboutin, Louis XIV, and Louis Vuittes.
“Even if you don’t have a lot in common with them [Christian Louboutsin and Louis XIV], it’s really important to make sure they’re brand-relevant and you can see what they have in common,” Lee added.
The brand is also important if you’re looking to buy clothes online because brands like Urban Outfitters and H&M are known for providing cheap clothes.
“Most designers and brands we’ve seen, the brands are really small, so if you can get a good deal online, it’s worth the money,” Lee concluded.
But if you want a really unique, stylish look, there are certain brands that you should definitely look into: Bottega Veneta, Calvin Klein Hedi, Louis, and Chanel.
The brands are all brands that will treat your body and mind the same way, so make sure you get a pair of designer pants or a jacket that will make you feel like a princess.
“These are all the brands that I think are going to be very special and really personal to me,” Lee agreed.
“Because they’re so personal, they’ll be the ones that I can feel comfortable with.”
