CHRISTCHURCH (AP) The Christchurch City Council is opening up more stores, with an eye to diversifying the city’s economy and creating new jobs.
Council chief executive John Gulledge said the new stores will include a large selection of Christian clothing, including clothing for men and women, as well as women’s clothes and footwear.
The stores will also offer a range of seasonal merchandise.
The new stores are expected to open in the fall.
Gulledge says the council will also have a focus on small businesses by bringing in some of the businesses that were not successful last year to help them grow.
He says the new outlets will attract more young people into the Christchurch retail sector.
